Strengthen Your Child's Math Skills This Fall!

The back to school season is busy and there are countless extracurricular activities for your child to explore. How can you know which ones to choose? One activity can help your child develop logical thinking, give them confidence in the classroom, and allow them to socialize with their peers: after-school math classes.

The Russian School of Mathematics (RSM) has been educating students for nearly 30 years and has two locations in Northern Connecticut, Avon and South Windsor. Their program consists of a K-12 curriculum, taught by expert teachers, in a classroom environment of peers.

A Unique Approach to Math Education

Designed as a continuous program, RSM's unique curriculum was developed by a team of academics specializing in mathematics, education, and child development. Students do not drill formulas, they regularly solve problems that do not have an obvious answer. This teaches students how to ask the right questions and gives them a feeling of satisfaction when they work through a difficult problem.

Expert Teachers Who Care

The teachers at RSM all have backgrounds in mathematics or related fields and share a passion for math education and their students’ success. This commitment spans generations, with children of RSM alumni and teachers, and even the founders’ grandchildren, continuing as RSM students.

Learning Through Discussion & Problem-Solving

In an RSM classroom, a typical day involves students and their teacher having engaging and dynamic discussions. Students are encouraged to share their ideas, work with their classmates, and explain their thinking. This kind of environment empowers students to think differently, as they work to solve problems from multiple angles.
